How to Make Your Home Look Better With Cedar

Cedar is red-hued wood with a distinct scent. The wood is hard, long-lasting, and offers the benefits of being both rot-resistant and pest-resistant. If you enjoy the look and smell of cedar, then make your home look better by adding some ceder touches to the interior. Cedar is a warm-colored wood, so it should be accompanied by bold, earthy colors such as cranberry red and green.

Instructions

    • 1

Furnish your home with cedar chairs, benches and storage units. For a country look, obtain pieces with woven wicker backs and seats. For a Victorian or Edwardian look, add soft and bold upholstery.

    • 2

Use thin cedar branches for curtain rods. Don’t panic if it has some curves, as that will add character to the room. To avoid hiding this distinctive rod, hang your curtains with grommets and rings.

    • 3

Replace your carpeting with cedar floors. If hardwood floors are outside of your budget, consider using laminate flooring designed to look like cedar.

    • 4

Add cedar shelves with elaborate carving to your walls for placing knickknacks.

    • 5

Install cedar logs onto your ceiling as rafters. For a rustic look, leave the logs unfinished.
