How to Decorate a High School Softball Team Locker Room

Locker rooms are places of solidarity and team spirit. In high school, decorating the locker room for your student athletes is a must. Decorations don’t have to be elaborate or expensive to make an impact. Whether decorated by cheerleaders, parents or the team members themselves, focus on creating a space for your softball team to prepare and get revved up for the game to come.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the locker room -- if possible, and if the school allows -- in your school colors to convey the feeling of school unity.

    • 2

Enlist the help of a few school artists to paint a mural of your school’s mascot in the locker room. If you have a team member who is also an artist, that’s even better. If a mural isn’t feasible, hang prints of your school mascot throughout the space.

    • 3

Hang photographs of previous school softball teams to show the history of the program and make an impact on the current players. They will realize that someday their pictures will be hanging in that same locker room for subsequent teams to admire.

    • 4

Display trophies, awards and banners prominently throughout the room. Hang them on walls and display them on shelves for players to enjoy.

    • 5

Decorate each player's locker with her photograph, a softball made from construction paper and glitter, as well as her name and number. Make each member of the team stand out in the locker room, so each player understands her importance and value to the team.

Locate a quote that is particularly relevant to your team and paint it on the wall where it can be seen before players take the field. An example, from an unknown author, is, “To play it takes talent. To win it takes desire.”
