Decor Ideas for Burnt Orange Flooring in a Kitchen

Burnt orange floors can work in your kitchen for a Tuscan look or a contemporary vibe, depending on how you decorate the rest of the kitchen. The warmth of the floors can make your kitchen an inviting space. The colors, textures and images you add to the kitchen can enhance the burnt orange floors or clash with the floors horribly. Opt for a color palette and style that makes you want to spend time in your kitchen.
  1. Walls

    • Paint the walls a creamy, soft shade of cream or brown for a warm but light look. Use spicy yellow for a vibrant or Tuscan look. Chocolate brown or bright white will work for a contemporary feel. Unify the walls and floor by using burnt orange tiles as a backsplash, or hang artwork featuring the same shade as the floor. Alternatively, put up wallpaper that includes hints of the same burnt orange from the floor, such as terracotta, brown, cream and burnt orange stripes or floral patterns.

    Appliances, Cabinets and Furniture

    • Black, white or stainless steel appliances will all work with burnt orange floors. Opt for stainless steel or black for a modern look. Deep, dark wood cabinets and furniture, such as your kitchen table, with orange tints, will complement the floor for a Tuscan look. Use lighter shades on your cabinets, such as white or cream, for a modern look. Add burnt orange knobs to spicy red or yellow cabinets, which will also work for a Tuscan-themed kitchen.

    Textiles

    • Dish towels, tablecloths, rugs and window treatments can have a large impact on the room. Use solid textiles in colors that complement the burnt orange floors -- or in the same burnt orange shade if it's not repeated throughout the room. Alternatively, use patterned textiles that include the same shade of burnt orange as the floor. Place white or cream carpets on the floor unless the burnt orange floor is a rug. For less upkeep, choose a rug with images of fruit and vegetables, leaves or other nature items that include burnt orange, yellows, reds, browns and other dark shades.

    Accessories

    • Accessorize the kitchen with copper sconces or pan hangers to pick up on the orange. Burnt orange candles or glass vases and pottery will pop against white, red or brown walls. Green houseplants can break up the warm colors, giving the kitchen a fresh and airy feel. Fill glass vases with amber-colored pebbles and white candles or flowers for a modern look.
