How to Decorate a Thomas the Tank Engine Bedroom

Decorate your child's bedroom with a Thomas the Tank Engine theme if he's infatuated with the character or trains in general. Creating a neutral bedroom with a few themed accessories will allow you to easily update the room when his preferences change, while providing a place for his train-loving imagination to run wild now. Include your child's favorite things about Thomas the Tank Engine and use the themed items he already has to accent the room.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the walls a light blue-gray, red or white. Use one wall to create a mural if you wish. Create an outdoor scene with a blue sky, puffy white clouds and railroad tracks for Thomas the Tank Engine to run on. Paint the train character on the tracks and add trees, flowers or buildings to provide a background. A commercial Thomas the Tank Engine stick-on wall mural is also available. Alternatively, hang a border with railroad tracks or a Thomas the Tank Engine theme around the room.

Furnish the room with a few themed pieces, such as a Thomas-themed bookshelf or table and chair set or a train-shaped toy box. Update the dresser with Thomas and friends knobs.

    • 3

Establish the Thomas theme with textiles, even if you keep the rest of the room neutral. Red, blue or themed curtains, sheets and a comforter will solidify the theme. Use a play rug with a Thomas image or railroad tracks where your child can play with his toys. Add a few Thomas and friends novelty throw pillows on the bed.

Hang framed posters or pictures of Thomas the Tank Engine on the walls if you opted not to paint or use a mural. Railway crossing signs, themed peel-and-stick decals or a Thomas growth chart can also decorate the walls.

Accessorize the room with images of Thomas. Use a Thomas lamp, bank, light switch plate, tissue box, coat rack or personalized sign with your child's name. Clocks and nightlights are other options. Display his Thomas toys on a shelf where they are easily accessible and add to the decor.
