How to Decorate Pillows on a Sectional Couch

Decorating with pillows on a sectional couch is different than decorating a traditional three-seater couch; you have more space and you also have a different style. This is a fairly easy design project, and adding the pillows adds personalization to your space as well as adding an extra level of comfort to your couch. A major appeal of pillows is that, while they help create style, they are typically fairly inexpensive and can be switched out for other styles of pillow through time.

  Gather an assortment of pillows for your couch -- opt for oversize pillows if you have a particularly large couch. Selecting an assortment of fabric colors and an assortment of materials gives your couch a sophisticated, textured look. For a contemporary look use bolder patterns and a good selection of solids, and for a more traditional look incorporate only one pattern, such as a floral or tartan, together with plenty of solid cushions that complement the couch.

  Place the pillows in the corners of the couch -- add two or three, creating a pile. Have pillows of unique color and fabric in each pillow. This creates a soft cushion for relaxing and a stylish, picture-ready look.

  Add single pillows, one per every second couch seat, elegantly throughout the couch. Reserve extra pillows for the loveseat and any other chairs in the space.
