Glue silk flowers onto a long piece of silk ivy or other greenery. Choose greenery that is at least a few inches longer than the width of the bed to hang above the bed, or even longer if you want it to hang down on both sides. Pin the swag in place over the bed with thumbtacks, tape or poster putty.
Twist material together for a multicolored swag. Sheer fabrics are typically lightweight enough to use two or three different pieces of material without specialty holders. Opt for simple curtain panels or loose fabric. Measure the distance from the floor to the height you want to hang the swag. Double the measurement, add the width of your bed and tack on another couple of feet if you want the fabric to pool on the floor. Lightweight shimmery fabrics will also work. These can be attached using thumbtacks or small nails if you don't want the hooks to be seen. Attach the fabric at the desired height at either side of the bed, letting the fabric hang a little loosely between the two points.
Wrap sheer panels around strings of miniature lights for a twinkling effect. Let the sheer fabric fall over the electrical outlet you plug the lights into to camouflage it.
Install decorative hooks or a curtain rod with decorative finials to hold fabric swags in place. Drape the material over the rod or thread it through the hook loosely to allow the material to droop in the center.
Create clean hemlines on large pieces of fabric with no-sew fabric adhesive or glue if you can't sew.
