Ask your daughter about her color palette preference, and do your best to incorporate a look that includes her favorite colors. Although pastel colors in pink, purple and green are often associated with fairies, there is no hard, fast rule about using them. On the other hand, if you aren’t handy with a sewing machine to make personalized items, pink and purple may be the easiest colors to find when seeking ready-made fairy accessories.
Paint the bedroom walls, and when they're dry, add some fairy stencils and forest greenery to them. If you possess artistic talent, paint the fairies and greenery yourself. Afterward, take a sponge, washable glue and some glitter to give the fairy wings a little sparkle. Alternatively, hire an artist to paint a fairy mural on one or more walls. When it comes to fairies, the only limit is your imagination.
Sew or purchase some new bedding and matching curtains for the bedroom. Fairy bedding is available at most bedding stores, but it is not absolutely necessary to complete the look. Fairies are associated with flowing fabrics, so use a set of sheer curtains, pull them from the middle, and then secure them with a colored satin ribbon. Tuck a few artificial flowers and flowing ivy into the ribbon to bring a magical forest inside her room.
Add a sheer or net canopy that attaches to the bed or to the ceiling above it for extra dreaminess. Then, tack several bendable wire butterflies to the netting.
Accessorize with fairy dolls and any other fairy trinkets that you have. Since fairies love forest creatures, stuffed animals also work well.
Place an artificial tree in one corner of the room, and adorn it with clear twinkle lights.
