How to Decorate with Artificial Grapes

Luscious bunches of grapes undoubtedly invoke images of sprawling vineyards, a Tuscan countryside, and wine that dances on your tongue. Even if your collection is limited to a few bottles, guests will feel like they’re relaxing at a genuine winegrower’s cottage with artfully placed grapes in your decor. If you keep the touches small, your artificial grapes will give the subtle impression of a classy, wine-themed dining room or kitchen without overwhelming the room with plump fruit on every surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a wine cork wreath. Begin with a plain vine wreath that can be purchased at any craft store. Affix a collection of wine corks from your favorite bottles to the wreath base with hot glue. Tuck a few small green sprigs of artificial grape vines or leaves in and around the wreath. Place a single bunch of artificial grapes off to one side near the bottom of the wreath, and secure with additional hot glue. Lay the wreath flat until the glue dries completely.

Use two or three empty wine bottles as a centerpiece on a sideboard. Though wine bottles are too tall to use in the center of a dining table, they’re just the right size to add interest to a hutch. Gather two or three empty bottles, and place them in a shallow, flat-bottomed basket. Arrange two bunches of artificial grapes as well as a few loose grapes around the bases of the bottles.

Lay grape vines along the top of your kitchen cabinets. The space on top of cabinets is rarely useful for any actual storage, but it's prime real estate for a decorative display. Fill the space with grape vines bursting with plump artificial grapes. Avoid placing anything else in the area, and let the vines create a simple but stunning effect all on their own.

Tuck a small bunch of artificial grapes beneath the napkin rings for your cloth napkins. Use a simple, rustic material for the rings such as raffia ribbon or plain wood. Keep your napkins on display even when you’re not hosting an event by gathering them in a basket and keeping them on the counter or displayed on a hutch in the dining room.
