Teen Bed Ideas With Purple & Green

Purple is a color that's often associated with creativity and joy, and green is a color that's often associated with nature, energy, security and stability. These colors can be used in a teen's bedroom, especially for bedding, to create a cool, funky and stylish room. The use of purple and green in different shades and with a combination of other colors creates a bold bed design appropriate for teens.
  1. Color Blocking

    • Decorate you teen's bedroom by combining purple and green bedding. This technique is called color blocking. Mix and match bedding by using a combination of the two colors. For example, cover the bed in purple sheets, cover pillows in both purple and green pillow cases and use a purple or green comforter over the bed.

    Triadic Colors

    • Triadic colors, such as purple, green and orange, are those that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. One way to combine these colors is to cover the bed in orange sheets, purple pillow cases and a green comforter. Orange can also work as an accent color, which you can use for decorative throw pillows on the bed as well as for the color of the bed skirt.

    Split-Complementary Colors

    • Purple, yellow-green and yellow-orange are considered split-complementary colors, or a base color and the two colors adjacent to its complement. Likewise, you can use green, red-orange and red-violet. These colors can be used for a teen's bed by covering the bed in purple sheets and covering pillows in yellow-green, which is a lighter shade of green, and yellow-orange pillow cases. Complete the look by using a purple comforter. Another way to use this color scheme is to use a red-orange and red-violet striped fitted sheet with green pillow cases and a green comforter.

    Monochromatic Colors

    • Monochromatic colors are those that are of a of a single hue or color family. Green, mint and olive are monochromatic, as well as purple, lilac and plum. Employ the monochromatic color scheme in your teen's bedroom by using a green fitted sheet, mint flat sheet and olive pillow cases. Use a purple comforter as an accent. Likewise, cover the bed in a purple fitted sheet, lilac flat sheet and plum pillow cases then use a green comforter as an accent.
