Instructions

    • 1

Create the theme for the bedroom. For example, if your boy has a favorite football or baseball team, incorporate these colors into the bedroom in the walls, floor and fabrics. You can also use the general sport of the team -- football or baseball, for example -- and favorite players from the team in the room decor.

    • 2

Paint the room in colors that coordinate with the theme you chose. Use team colors or apply basic colors that will complement the theme. Consider painting each wall a different color or painting each opposite wall the same color to create a lively effect.

    • 3

Choose bedding and a comforter in the colors of the team. For example, if your boy loves the Green Bay Packers, use green and gold as the predominant colors of the bedroom. You may be able to find a comforter and bedding that sport the team logo. Another option is to use solid colors of the team. If you are creating a general sports theme without a specific team, choose bold colors such as blue, green, red and yellow to create a bright room.

Add pillows to the bed that fit the theme. Find pillows that feature a team logo or choose pillows that resemble sports objects -- baseballs, baseballs, soccer balls or footballs, for example.

    • 5

Place an area rug on the floor that fits the theme -- a rug with general sports objects on it, a rug with a team logo or even a bright rug with the same colors you painted on the walls.

    • 6

Cover the windows with blinds or curtains that fit the theme. Again, you may find curtains featuring team logos or you might choose solid colors that coordinate with the other colors of the room. Another simple option might be solid colored mini-blinds that coordinate with the other colors of the bedroom.

Add wall decor. Use pennants from the boy’s favorite teams, frame posters of favorite players and mount framed pictures of sports scenes or activities connected with the sports. Another option is to affix a life-size wall sticker of your boy’s favorite athlete on the wall.

Include objects connected with favorite sports. A basketball hoop mounted over a laundry hamper, soccer goalposts or football field goals on one wall, baseball bases mounted on the wall, fishing poles or even hunting paraphernalia mounted to the wall would make stylish additions to the room decor.
