Instructions

    • 1

Paint the walls of the room a light shade of purple, green, blue or yellow to incorporate theme-related colors into the design element and serve as the background for the fairy garden or magical forest. If desired, paint a coat of glitter gaze on one wall to create the magical “pixie dust” effect. Let the paint dry thoroughly.

    • 2

Stencil or draw the outlines of trees, flowers, vines, grass and stumps on all the walls using chalk, or devote only one wall to the scene, painting the others bold colors. Fill the outlines with acrylic paint and leave to dry.

    • 3

Attach decorative crystals in different sizes and shapes from fishing line suspended from the ceiling or window and door frames to depict Tinker Bell when she is a flash of light. Drill holes into the ceiling at the desired points and insert a ceiling hook into each. Loop the end of fishing line around each, and insert the other end of the fishing line in the hook provided along the top or upper back of the decorative crystal. Alternatively, stencil Tinker Bell on sheets of cardboard, cut along the outlines and fill with color. Punch a hole through the top of each cutout and hang from door and window frames with fishing line.

    • 4

Hang theme-related wall decor such as posters, murals and stickers to color dull spots or corners. Alternatively, spray paint the edges of a corkboard gold and pin up magazine cutouts of Tinker Bell to decorate a section of a wall. If desired, add a light coat of spray-on glue on the wall to depict a trail, and sprinkle glitter on it so it resembles fairy dust.

    • 5

Place a theme-related bed in the room, or decorate the existing bed with Tinker Bell decals and stickers. Alternatively, attach green gauze to a canopy bed and glue applique flowers randomly to resemble a bed of moss draped with flowers. Spread bedding and cushions in theme-related colors or prints on the bed. Use a comforter in a solid color to offset busy walls, or use a printed comforter if the walls are plain or decorated sparingly.

    • 6

Hang sheer curtains in gold, purple, blue or green over windows to incorporate the Tinker Bell theme. Spread a theme-related rug on the floor to bring the different design elements together. Paint the remaining furniture in theme colors before replacing in the bedroom or decorate with removable stickers.

    • 7

Accessorize the room with theme-related merchandise, including decorative figurines for a shelf, glow-in-the-dark stickers for the ceiling, mushroom or flower stools or floor cushions and a floral bedside lamp. Replace drawer knobs with floral knobs.
