Tiger Themes for Your Bedroom

While some people prefer neutral colors throughout their houses, other people like to express themselves, especially in the bedroom. Some people settle for adding a touch of color to the walls or a few antiques scattered around the room, while others pick a theme and go with it, creating an underwater tableau or medieval atmosphere. You can also design a decorative them around your favorite animal.
  1. Paint the Walls

    • Orange is a very strong color and would overwhelm the room if all the walls were painted orange. However, painting one accent wall orange will make the wall pop. You don't have to paint the wall bright orange -- tigers vary in color but are mostly a burnt umber hue. Soften your tiger-toned wall with more neutral oranges such as marigold or butter. Avoid pale oranges with a pink overtone, as this will clash with your orange accent wall. If you have some artistic ability, you can fade the orange accent wall to an off-white, creamy color around the edges and draw some organic, bold, black stripes diagonally across the wall.

    Faux Art

    • While you can point your own tiger on the wall if you have the talent, an easier answer is to get a life-size vinyl wall decal of a tiger. You can get photo realistic decals, stylized decals or cartoon style tigers. Depending onyour vision for your bedroom, you can paint in some golden grass around the tiger decal or a complex green forest scene. If a life-size tiger is too big for your designs, consider getting tiger cubs.

    Bedding, Bedspreads and Rugs

    • Tiger-themed bedspreads and velour throws are widely available. Some styles combine images of tigers with natural settings; pick one that fits the theme of the rest of the room. Other varieties of spreads mix tiger striping with black, white or orange boarders. Combine these bed covers with pale gold sheets and pillowcases to continue your tiger theme. Get a faux tiger throw rug to accent the floor, or even a faux tiger rug with a stuffed head to resemble a stuffed animal for the floor.

    Furniture

    • Black, gold, brown and cream room furnishings will help accentuate your tiger-themed room. Wrought iron furniture will add a touch of the primitive, as will natural-colored wood desks. A bamboo headboard and footboard for the bed lends a jungle feel to the room, as well as complementing your tiger colors. Make tiger-patterned lampshades by painting on an inexpensive shade or tying a tiger-striped scarf around the lamp. Depending on the age of the bedroom's occupant, include stuffed animals as pillows and decorations.
