Creative Ideas for a Canopy Bed

A canopy bed is the term used to describe any bed that has a canopy of fabric hanging from above and draped around the edges of the bed. A canopy bed may consist of the canopy alone or may be paired with a four-poster bed that has separate fabric curtains. While many canopies consist of single color or patterned fabric, there are many other creative ways in which a canopy bed can be decorated to suit your needs or set the mood for a romantic evening.
  1. Internal Decoration

    • Make the inside of the canopy as attractive as the outside. Get peaceful scenes of nature embroidered on the interior of the canopy, so you can look up and see serene vistas. If your canopy bed is also a four poster, you can have embroidery done on those panels as well to fully encase yourself in a pretty environment.

    LED

    • LED lights emit no heat and are cool to the touch. Therefore, they are safe to entwine around the posters of the bed or to run through pockets sewn into the fabric of a canopy, which creates a romantic, relaxed ambiance when the LEDs are on and the rest of the lights in the room are extinguished.

    Netting

    • Sheer fabrics or netting can give a bedroom a tropical, breezy feel. And if your room is actually in a tropical location where you leave the windows open at night, a canopy made from this kind of material can serve a functional purpose as well as being aesthetically pleasing. Netting can help to keep out mosquitoes or other pests.

    Tapestry

    • Rather than hang undecorated fabric from your canopy, you can hang a tapestry instead. You may choose a tapestry with elaborate needlework, or purchase something with a Celtic or tribal design. The benefit of this design tactic is the ease with which you can swap out the tapestry, letting your bedroom reflect your changeable moods.
