Clear the room’s furniture, and spruce up the walls with paint and exotic multicolored woven wall hangings from Turkey and other Asian countries.
Lay a large area rug at the center of the room.
Set up the dining set. If the room is adjacent to a kitchen that opens out to it, set the dining area on that side of the room.
Place the sectional sofa next to the dining area along the wall, keeping the center of the room clear.
Arrange two lounge chairs separated by an end table in the corner on the side of the sectional away from the dining set. Place a table lamp on the end table.
Center the bookcase on the next wall, next to the two lounging chairs. Place two tropical floor plants on both sides of the unit.
Set two conversational chairs with a decorative accent table in the corner next to the bookcase. This set should look much different from the lounge chair set. Place a floor lamp in the corner behind this arrangement.
Locate a sofa sleeper on the next wall, on the side of the last conversational area. Select a sofa that coordinates well with the sectional on the opposite side of the room. The sofa sleeper takes the place of a standard bed in a yurt.
Set up two large end tables on the sides of the sofa sleeper. Place matching table lamps on these tables.
Place a small coffee table in front of the sleeper sofa and the sectional. Keep the center of the room open.
Add large floor pillows to the center of the room. The center is where religious worship, learning and general interaction takes place in a yurt.
