Replace a twin bed with a daybed covered in fabric such as faux zebra. Applique pillows to look like famous-label shopping bags or designer logos.
Make or buy a three-way screen that’s mirrored on one side. Place it in good light.
Install track lighting on the ceiling with daylight bulbs that can be aimed at the closet, clothes rack and mirror. Aim one light at a giant poster for a fashion show or an oversize framed ad for a favorite designer’s new collection. Get help hanging track lighting.
Ask a friend to take a series of photos of you posing in a chic ensemble. Display the shots in one long frame with mat cutouts to reveal the photos. Hang this over the dressing-table mirror.
Dedicate an entire corner to a dressing table with a large mirror surrounded by theatrical lights, a make-up chest, hangers for necklaces and earring trees.
Place a wheeled costume or clothes rack in front of the closet.
Cut a swatch of carpet remnant in the shape of a runway and lie it on the floor from the doorway to the daybed. Curve the carpet as you cut it if the room layout requires an angle.
Add a few small gilt chairs with cushions for guest seating.
