How to Decorate Walls Above Corner Chairs

There might be no greater pleasure than relaxing in a corner chair with a good book and a cup of cocoa, but that pleasure can turn to dismay if your corner is uninteresting and dull. Decorate the walls above a corner chair, whether it be a recliner or cozy upright chair, to give your room a complete and fully decorated appearance. The right decor can make your corner look comfortable, appealing and exciting.

Instructions

Paint your wall a solid color. Wallpaper or sponge-paint can make your corner look too busy and cluttered, but a single, solid color will enhance the space and make it appear large and spacious. Opt for white if you want your room to look bright and inviting, but don't be afraid to choose a bold, unusual color. Even black can be an appropriate wall color if you're looking for a sophisticated, modern touch.

Hang a small accent lamp on one of the walls. Place the lamp a few feet above the chair. An accent lamp not only provides additional light for reading and sewing, but will give your corner a studious and contemplative appearance. For a modern touch, choose a boxed lamp. If you want your corner to look more historic or classic, choose a candelabra lamp.

Place a picture or painting on the opposite wall from the lamp. It's important that the frame of the picture be a different color from the wall so that the picture "pops" out at visitors. Pick a vintage black-and-white for a dramatic, pensive look, or choose a family portrait for a more casual appearance.
