So you didn't completely think through how you set out your candles last holiday season, and the colorful wax from your decorative, delicious-smelling candles dripped down onto your grandmother's antique oak table. You were in such a hurry to prepare for company that you didn't even think to put the candlesticks on a dish, or to cover the table with a table cloth. Don't panic. While wax can be stubborn, there is a way to get it out of the wood in granny's table.

1
Place a frozen ice pack on top of the wax-covered area to make the wax stain hard.
-
2
Use the edge of a credit card or another soft-edged item such as a plastic butter knife to very gently scrape away as much of the wax as you can.

3
Put some cream furniture wax on a soft cloth and apply it to the area where the stain was. The cream wax will loosen any remaining wax in the crevices of the wood, and you will be able to wipe it away when you wipe up the cream wax.

Wash down your table as you normally would.
