How to Shop for a Yankee Candle

Size and Type

  Observe the different sizes of jars and tumblers. There are three sizes of jar candles: 22 oz., 14.5 oz. and 3.7 oz. There are three sizes of tumbler candles: 22 oz., 12.5 oz. and 7 oz.

  Check out the smaller candles. Among Yankee’s other candles are votives, tea lights (sold in only packs of 12), pillars (3 inches by 6 inches, and 3 inches by 4 inches), and tapers (sold in boxes of 12 at 10 inches each).

  Try Beanswax soy wax candles if you're looking for an all natural product. They come in 22 oz. tumblers, 12.5 oz. tumblers, and 3.7 oz. “Travel Tins.”

Candle Use

  Think about what you will be using the candle for. If you are buying it for someone else, think about what they may be using it for. Most Yankee Candles that are given as gifts are the jars and tumblers.

  Pillar and taper candles are great for candle holders and decorative candle pieces. Tea lights and votives that are not already in a holder are good for candle accessories. Tea lights are also used for melting wax tarts.

  Go “green.” The various Beanswax candles are for the “green” person. Beanswax candles are made from 100% natural soy beans with all natural wicks and no artificial colors.

Candle Scent

  Looking at pillars or tapers, it’s best to know that tapers are unscented. Pillar candles come unscented or scented. The pillar scents are “Cranberry Chutney,” “French Vanilla,” and “Sage and Citrus.”

  Check out Beanswax scents like the “Over the Moon” or “Cran Slam.” They are earthy and natural.

There are scents that Yankee sells year-round, but there are also scents that are sold exclusively during certain holidays and seasons. Around Christmas you see Christmas inspired scents and designs such as “Christmas Cookie,” and in the summer you see more mixed fruit and beach inspired scents.

  When trying to decide on a scent think about your favorite scents (or the favorite scents of the person you’re buying the candle for) and where the candle is going. If the candle is going to be used in a bathroom you may want to try a scent like “Baby Powder” or “Clean Cotton.” For the kitchen try “Cinnamon and Sugar” or “Buttercream.” Of course, it all depends on your personal preference.
