How to Hang Tart Burner Candles

Hanging tart burner candles can accent your home with a touch of whimsy while making it smell good at the same time. Unfortunately, their name is deceptive, as they usually are not hung the same way tea lights or other small candles may be dangled from hooks around the home. Since they are, by design, two pieces that sit on top of one another, it is difficult to hang them that way. Instead, hanging tart burners usually involve a figurine of some kind with space for both the tart and the votive candle that will melt it.

Things You'll Need

  • Hanging tart burner
  • Tart burner inserts
  • Plain votive candles
  • Lighter or matches

Instructions

    • 1

Find a good place in your home to locate your hanging tart burner. Depending on what design you choose, you may decide to locate it in a particular room. Bookcases, mantels, tables and window sills are all good places to locate a hanging tart burner. Make sure the place you choose to locate your hanging tart burner is level. Make sure not to locate it too close to anything flammable.

    • 2

Hang the support for the tart tray or basket so it is even and not tilted. Usually, the support will be a string of some sort, or possibly a chain that can be adjusted with ease.

    • 3

Place your tart burner insert (wax tart, soy beads or other type) into the tart tray.

    • 4

Place a plain votive candle in the bottom of your hanging tart burner. Pull the wick so it is standing straight up and is ready to be lit.

    • 5

Light the wick on the votive candle with a lighter or matches. Your tart should start to melt very quickly, releasing its fragrance into your home. Watch it the first time to make sure it is not going to spill over onto the surface upon which you have placed your hanging tart burner.
