How to Use a Clay Oil Diffuser With Tea Lights

Need to unwind after a long day? Simply sit back, relax and breathe in the calming effects of essential oil dispersed from a candle diffuser. Many ways of filling a room with healing aromas exist but one of the simplest and least expensive is the candle diffuser, which uses a tea light to warm up oil and release its scent. Typically, candle diffusers are made of metal or ceramic. They have a "bowl," in which you mix a few drops of concentrated oil with some water, and an opening underneath the bowl that holds a tea light candle.

Things You'll Need

  • Candle diffuser
  • Teaspoon
  • Water
  • Essential oil
  • Lighter or match
  • Tea light candles

Instructions

    • 1

Add 2 tsp. of water to your diffuser's bowl. Water will prevent heated oil from scorching the bowl during use.

    • 2

Add 5 to 10 drops of essential oil into the water.

    • 3

Light the tea light and place it under the diffuser bowl. There will be a small niche or opening in which to place the candle. Ensure that it's sitting flat in the opening provided and is not leaning against the side of the diffuser.

    • 4

Add more water or oil or light more candles as needed, depending on how long you wish to disperse aroma.

    • 5

Blow out the candle after you have finished oil diffusion and discard any empty tea light tins.

    • 6

Wash the diffuser with warm, soapy water and let it air dry.
