How to Use Nag Champa

Nag Champa is a very popular and widely used type of incense. Though "Nag Champa" is a name brand that distributes and sells this and other types of incense, the scent it creates can be found in a much broader array of products. Nag Champa incense derives its aroma from the Champa, or Plumeria tree and its flowers. This type of incense is used by allowing the stick to smolder, which produces the well known aromatic smoke.

Things You'll Need

  • Lighter or match
  • Nag Champa stick or cone incense
  • Incense holder

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the Nag Champa stick by the uncoated end, being careful to hold it away from your clothes, face or hair.

    • 2

Place the Nag Champa over a surface that does not pose a fire hazard, such as an incense holder or a dish.

    • 3

Ignite the coated end of the Nag Champa with a lighter or match. Once lit, allow it to burn for several seconds.

    • 4

Blow out the flame gently. Be careful not to blow sparks or embers from the Nag Champa, as these can pose a fire hazard. Once the flame has been blown out, the stick should continue to smolder. If the Nag Champa does not smolder or goes out completely, ignite it again and allow it to burn for several more seconds.

    • 5

Place the uncoated, unlit end of the Nag Champa stick into an incense holder.
