How to Decorate a Teen Girl's Room With Wooden Letters

Wooden letters ranging from small to very large are widely available at craft stores and have made a big impression in home décor. Paint, decoupage or otherwise decorate them yourself to use wooden letters to spell out meaningful words or phrases. When used in this way the letters become more than just a decorative element, they become a daily inspiration. Especially useful when used in a teenaged girl’s room, wooden letters personalize and enhance any room’s color or decorative theme and can help stave off negative self-esteem.

      Cover a large wall space with a meaningful and inspirational poem about inner beauty. Use 5- or 6-inch letters to spell it out, paint them black and display on the wall using peel and stick hook and loop tape.

      Spell out a girl’s name or a positive affirmation with painted, wood letters and apply to the upper portion of a mirror. Paint the letters a bright and cheerful color or pattern and attach with hook and loop tape.

      Create an interesting border around a wall mirror or doorframe with wood letters. Paint the letters a color that contrasts with the wall paint, then spell out words that describe all the wonderful characteristics the teen girl embodies. Space the words out evenly around the perimeter using 4-inch wood letters.

      Select the teen girl’s initials in an extra large wood letters and paint in a whimsical way. Pastel colors topped with polka dots, curly-Qs and doodle-like waves make the wood letter look festive and cheery. Hang over the teen girl’s headboard or on her bedroom door.

      Hot glue small wood letters onto drawer pulls. Spell out a word or use the teen’s initials to customize. For example, a five-drawer dresser will neatly hold the letters for the name "Diane."
