Make note of the wall you want to use for the wall hangings, including the amount of space you're working with and any objects surrounding the area, such as a lamp, sofa or table.
Measure the wall, approximately one third from the bottom of the floor. Use a pencil to mark the distance horizontally.
Lay each frame you want to use on the floor, or draw the layout of the pieces on paper to play with the arrangement. As you arrange the frames, leave an equal amount of space between them.
Place the largest frame in the middle to use it as a focal point, and then arrange smaller pieces to the left and right of the largest frame. To arrange a large frame that's wider than it is long, align smaller frames with the large frame's base. To arrange a frame that's longer than it is wide, center smaller frames vertically on the right and left of the main frame to add balance.
Place rectangular frames directly above and below each other if you don't have a focal point. Add smaller or square frames beside the rectangular frames, and center them vertically. Add a larger frame beside the smaller frames, and center the larger frame vertically.
Place an oval frame in the center, and arrange a rectangular or square frame to the left, right, above, and below the oval frame. Then, add smaller pieces around the four rectangular or square frames to form a larger oval.
Transfer your layout from the floor or paper onto the wall to hang the mismatched pictures and frames.
