How to Hang Poster Prints Nicely

Posters today are not all of the old teenage-bedroom, rock-n-roll variety. Many art prints and photographic works are available in poster format, including the works of history's great masters. No longer is a poster automatically hung by thumbtacks and crooked, as a variety of poster frames -- from transparent to fancy -- are designed to match any decor or color scheme. Hanging posters nicely is easily accomplished -- if you're willing to break free from tacks and the iconic KISS, Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin images.

Instructions

    • 1

Frame your poster print. A number of frame types are available, including traditional wood, plastic, aluminum and transparent. Posters are placed inside the frame, either using the standard removable frame back or, in the case of many transparent frames, covering both sides of the poster with covers and sliding orders around the print.

Mount a small laser level on one wall of the room. Laser levels have a wall attachment and a built-in level that indicates if the laser level is level to the wall. Mount the level at the approximate height at which the posters are being hung. When the level is activated, a laser light indicates a level line on all walls, allowing you to evenly hang numerous posters in a short time.

Determine where you wish to hang the poster. As the level continues operating, hold the poster even to the level laser, determine where the frame hanger is to be placed and mark the spot with a pencil. Mount the frame hangar with a hammer and small nails or use self-adhesive hooks.

Hang your poster on the frame hanger, using the laser-level indicator to line it up properly. Adjust as necessary.
