How to Attach a Mirror Flush to a Brick Wall

Brick does not have to pose a problem if you want to hang a mirror. A brick surface may seem a bit daunting when it comes time to decorate. Unlike wallboard or plaster, the surface does not quickly take a nail or screw for hanging pictures or mirrors. Certain methods for hanging mirrors leaves them slightly protruding from the wall. For a flush fit on a brick wall, the right hardware and method is essential.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the placement for the mirror and mark the spot on the wall. Hold the mirror to the wall and make a pencil mark on the wall at the top, side corner. Use a level to ensure the two marks are even on the wall.

    • 2

Attach a mirror plate to each side of the backside of the mirror along the top of the frame. Mirror plates are hanging devices that allow for flush hanging on a flat surface. Equally space two plates, one on each side of the mirror.

    • 3

Measure the distance from the edge of the mirror to the screw hole on the mirror plate. Measure this same distance on the wall from the marked spot inward. Mark the spots with a pencil and use a level to ensure they are even.

    • 4

Drill a hole at each newly marked spot the size of the screw anchors into the brick. The screw anchors need to match the same size as the screws for the mirror plates. The drill bit must match the size of the anchor. Consult with a professional for the right size and type of bit to use. Wear goggles to protect the eyes.

Place the anchors into the wall and hang the mirror. Use a screwdriver to screw the mirror plate screws into the anchors.
