How to Get Fingernail Polish Off Ivory

Ivory is a naturally porous, organic material that is easily damaged when improperly cleaned. This potential for disaster must be kept in mind when removing any stains or foreign objects from ivory piano keys or statues, including nail polish. If left untreated, nail polish seeps into the ivory’s porous surface, creating a permanent discoloration. Remove nail polish drips from ivory objects properly to prevent causing further damage or blemishes.

Dampen a soft cloth with the mixture and gently work it into the nail polish stain. Wipe away the liquid immediately with a separate soft cloth. If the stain persists, move to the next step.
