Grapevine Wreath Designs with Peacock Feathers and Seashells

Decorative wreaths add touches of character to your home or place of business. Natural grapevine wreaths decorated with peacock feathers and seashells combine the appeal of the air and the sea. The vibrant feathers soften the hard texture of the grapevine and the seashells. You can start your wreath display with a premade grapevine circle or make your own with pliable vines.
  1. Peacock Feathers

    • The eyes of the peacock feather is a series of vibrant colors.

A wreath with a peacock-feather display will highlight the symbol of well being and good luck. Peacock feathers are gathered after the exotic birds shed them following breeding season. These beautiful pieces can grow several feet long. The hard tips or quill of the feathers are inserted between the curved vines in a wreath. Press the end of a glue gun into the space, and fill the area with the heated adhesive to keep the quill secured in place.

    Seashells

    • Seashells are found in many shapes and sizes. You can find these gems from the ocean on the beach or purchase them in the craft area of a store. Tiny shells that range from 1/2 inch to several inches are colorful decorative pieces suitable for a wreath. The shaped shells are attached to the wooden vines with glue. They may be secured directly to the shaped vines or to a clump of moss or a mixture of stones and one large shell.

    Simplicity

    • Shape and curl one nearly perfect white or colored peacock feather and fit it into one side of a dense grapevine wreath. Clusters of assorted seashells can be secured directly under the draped feather. The three natural parts combine together, each complementing the colors and textures of wood, feather and shell.

    Feathery Display

    • Insert and secure the quill tips of several feathers into a medium to large size grapevine ring. Arrange the tops of the feathers to create a circle of color around the center of the wreath. Each eye on the peacock feathers will flow outward from the edge of the circular shape of a sunburst.

    Wall Wreath

    • An impressive wreath that's a focal point on a wall can be made with a large grapevine wreath. Choose a 30- to 60-inch grapevine ring for the wall display. The vines should be thick for a sturdy base that can hold several pounds of decorative shells, moss, feathers and glue. Adhere moss around the center area of the entire wreath ring. Arrange and glue clusters of seashells onto the bed of moss. Insert three to five peacock feathers into one side of the wreath. A nautical decoration such as a miniature lighthouse or anchor will add to the seashore theme of the wreath display.
