How to Install a Bed Crown

Bed crowns are a decorative wall accessory typically centered over the headboard of a bed. Crowns are available in nearly any style imaginable, from ornate to whimsical designs for children. Fabric is typically draped from the bed crown to create a canopy effect. Although commonly used in bedrooms, bed crowns may also be used to decorate doorways and windows or to frame pieces of furniture. Mounting your bed crown can be accomplished with readily available hardware and common household tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine your desired placement of the bed crown on your wall.

    • 2

Place the flat side of the stud finder on the wall in the approximate location you want to hang the bed crown. Push the button to activate the stud finder and slowly move the device horizontally along the wall. Depending on your model, the stud finder will beep or flash lights when a stud is detected. Mark the spot.

    • 3

Position one pre-drilled hole on the wall bracket over the spot marking the wall stud. Insert an anchor-less screw into the hole. Use a Phillips screwdriver to install the screw into the wall. Tighten it until snug, but do not over-tighten it.

    • 4

Pivot the wall bracket until the bubble is centered between the two lines in the level. Insert an anchor-less screw into the second pre-drilled hole. Tighten it with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the level.

    • 5

Center the mounting bracket on the back of the bed crown. Mark the location of the pre-drilled holes. Hold the bracket in place. Insert a wood screw into a hole. Tighten the screw until it is slightly snug.

    • 6

Reposition the second hole as needed until it is directly over your pencil mark. Insert the second wood screw into the hole and tighten it with a Phillips screwdriver. Tighten all the screws until they are snug.

    • 7

Position the mounting bracket on the bed crown directly above the wall bracket. Lower the bed crown onto the wall bracket.
