Cut wire mesh, using wire cutters, to make a 1-by-4 unit rectangle so that each unit equals one square of mesh. This will make a small chair with a back as large as one square. For a larger chair, cut a larger rectangle with a width-to-length ratio of 1-to-4. To make a sofa, cut a rectangle with a 1-to-1 width-to-length ratio.
Sand the rough edges of the rectangle with a file.
Bend the first one-quarter of the rectangle at a 90-degree angle, using pliers. If you are making a small chair, only bend the first square. This will form the chair’s back.
Bend the rectangle at the halfway point at a 90-degree angle in the opposite direction from the first row of squares. This will form the chair’s seat.
Bend the last quarter of the rectangle at a 90-degree angle so that it lies directly under the seat of the chair or couch.
Cut a piece of plywood large enough to cover the chair’s seat, using a handsaw. If desired, cut additional plywood pieces large enough to cover the back and front of the chair.
Cover the plywood pieces with fabric, if desired. Affix the fabric to the wood using fabric glue.
Glue the plywood to the wire mesh, using epoxy glue.
