How to Use Cricut to Monogram Glassware

Using a Cricut machine and a vinyl sheet, you can create customized monograms that stick to glass. Cricut cutting machines can create a variety of monogram designs, which you can use to decorate wine glasses or other glassware for special occasions such as weddings or a formal dinner. If you want to use different fonts or borders than those that come preloaded on your Cricut machine, you can purchase extra font cartridges from a craft store.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Cricut machine by pressing the “Power” button. Type the monogram you wish to use on your glassware using the Cricut machine’s keyboard. Examine the text displayed on the machine’s screen and use the keys to correct any mistakes before continuing.

    • 2

Position the vinyl sheet on the Cricut cutting mat, placing the corner of the vinyl sheet so it touches the corner of the mat that says “Align paper corner here.” Press down on the four corners of the vinyl sheet, and then the center, ensuring the sheet sticks to the cutting mat, which is tacky to hold the sheet in place.

    • 3

Insert the end of the cutting mat with the arrow into the input opening in the Cricut machine with the cutting mat’s arrow pointing into the machine. Hold the cutting mat in place with one hand, while using your other hand to press the “Load Paper” button on the machine.

    • 4

Press the “Cut” button on the Cricut machine to begin cutting out your monogram design from the vinyl sheet. Press “Unload Paper” once the machine falls silent, signaling it is done cutting out your design.

    • 5

Peel the vinyl sheet off the cutting mat and gently push on the cutouts if they are still stuck to the rest of the sheet. If the cutouts stick to the mat, insert a craft knife’s blade under the edges of the cutouts until they come free.

Clean the glassware with warm, soapy water and a clean microfiber cloth. Dry off the glassware with a dry and clean microfiber cloth. Peel off the backing paper from the vinyl sheet and press one end of the cutout on the glassware. Continue pressing the remainder of the cutout on the glassware until it adheres to the glass surface.
