How to Restore a Kundo Anniversary Clock

The Kundo anniversary clock, also called a Kundo 400 Day clock, is a brand of torsion pendulum clocks. Torsion pendulum clocks are upright clocks that keep time via a swinging pendulum. They usually must be wound every 400 days, or once a year. Most anniversary clocks were manufactured between the 1880s and 1980s. If you recently purchased a Kundo anniversary clock and want to restore it, you can set the time by adjusting the settings on the back of the clock.

Instructions

  1. Adjust the Clock's Settings

    • 1

Place your Kundo anniversary clock on a flat surface.

    • 2

Remove the glass dome and turn the clock around so the back is facing you.

    • 3

Loosen the top pendulum screw, using the screwdriver.

    • 4

Lift the guard near the screw as high as you can. As you do this, you will see the bar on the bottom spring rise. Tighten the screw firmly back into place.

    • 5

Slide the bar upward. Make sure the center twisted bar below the time regulator remains centered in the cup on the base of the clock to ensure the clock will function properly.

    • 6

Place the clock in the location you want to display it.

    • 7

Tap the pendulum with your finger so it begins swinging.

    • 8

Move the hands on the clock with your fingers to display the correct time.

    • 9

      Replace the glass dome.

How to Clean a Kundo Anniversary Clock

    • 10

      Take off the glass dome.

    • 11

Run the glass dome under warm water. Wash it gently, using a soapy sponge. Rinse the dome and dry it with a cloth or paper towel.

    • 12

Run a small feather duster over the internal parts of the Kundo anniversary clock to remove any dust particles.

    Fix the Pendulum

    • 13

Place the anniversary clock on the location you want to display it.

    • 14

      Remove the glass dome.

    • 15

Tap the pendulum with your finger so it will begin swinging.

    • 16

Listen to the beat of the pendulum. If the tick-tock noise sounds unbalanced, rotate the clock slightly toward the side with the lesser sound until the beat is even.
