Types of Longaberger

Longaberger, an American company rooted in the early tradition of basket making, was founded in 1973 by Dave Longaberger and is located in Newark, Ohio. Longaberger is a family-owned company that sells products through self-employed home consultants who sell products in-home through basket parties. Longaberger also sells a large variety of baskets and accessories online, however, some seasonal and special offerings are only sold through group, in-home shows.
  1. Traditional Baskets

    • All Longaberger baskets are handmade and come in a variety of colors from light, medium and dark brown to black and whitewash. From the Baker's basket to the large Flare, different weave patterns combined with a variety of liners, lids and dividers make these baskets unique and pricey. According to the Longaberger website, a traditional medium Metropolitan Basket retails for $72 as of April 2011. If you add the fabric liner, the price goes up an additional $20.

    Seasonal Baskets

    • Longaberger offers seasonal baskets for prominent holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Mother's Day. Most of these seasonal baskets are designed, produced and sold for a limited time. For instance, the 2011 Mother's Day Basket and travel mug is cream, pink and green and can be purchased with a jewelry pouch, tie-on, pottery lid and travel mug. This particular basket sells for $39. The lid is an additional $14, and the 2011 Mother's Day Tie-On, a charm that ties onto the basket, sells for an additional $10.

    American Valor

    • American Valor baskets come in military colors and insignias, with a basket representing every branch of the United States military. The American Valor Insignia Basket set includes the basket and lid and measures 9 ½ inches by 5 ¼ inches by 2 7/8 inches. The basket with lid retails for $84, as of April 2011. The American Valor Note Basket set retails for $68 and measures 6 inches by 7 ¾ inches by 2 1/1 inches.
