Measure and cut five 20-inch long dried bamboo stalks. Select a stalk of bamboo that is as least 1 inch in diameter.
Coat all sides of each cut bamboo stalk and both sides of a 10-inch diameter wood circle and a 4-inch diameter wood circle with spray polyurethane. The wood circles should be between 3/4 and 1 inch thick. Look for wooden circles in craft stores. Let the polyurethane dry according to the manufacturer's directions. Apply a second coat to all areas and let dry overnight.
Drill a 1/8-inch diameter hole straight through each of the 20-inch bamboo stalks, 1 inch from one end.
Insert one screw-eye hook in the center of the top and the underside of the 10-inch wood circle. Insert five screw-eye hooks around the perimeter of the underside of the wood circle, 1/2 inch from the outside edge. Space the five hooks evenly apart.
Cut five 10-inch lengths of fishing line. Insert the end of one line through one drilled hole in one bamboo stalk. Feed the line through the hole on the opposite side of the stalk. Pull the line through the second hole until the stalk hangs in the center of the line.
Tie the ends of the line to one of the hooks attached to the wood circle. Thread the remaining lines through the remaining stalks and tie each one to a hook.
Insert one screw-eye hook into the top center of the 4-inch diameter circle. Cut one 25-inch length of fishing line. Thread the fishing line to the center of the hook in the 4-inch circle. Tie the ends of the line to the hook in the underside of the center of the 10-inch diameter wood circle.
Cut a 20-inch length of fishing line. Thread the line halfway through the hook at the top center of the 10-inch diameter wood circle. Tie the ends of the line together to make a hanger for the wind chime.
Cover every knot used to construct the bamboo wind chime with clear, waterproof construction adhesive. Let the adhesive dry overnight before hanging the chimes.
