How to Decorate Roses

Roses count as one of the staples of the floral industry with 110 million roses being sold during Valentine's season alone. They also represent some of the most beloved motifs in decorating styles like English Country, and they can be a decorative element that's just as important as the artwork on the wall or the lamp in the corner. If you're looking to decorate some roses for your home, you have many possibilities to choose from. These include ideas for decorating roses both inside and outside your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate interestingly shaped vases or containers. If you're trying to decorate your roses in an interesting way, look for vases that don't qualify as the run-of-the-mill roses vases. Instead, look for items like a large brandy snifter, an antique ceramic Roseville vase, a carved pumpkin or even a science beaker. These items will help you decorate the roses as opposed to just decorating with roses; they become a visually interesting part of the display.

Take advantage of dried roses and rose petals or silk roses in your displays. For example, if you're making a fall display of roses, try popping the heads off of dried roses and filling a clear glass container with the rose heads and clear marbles. You can also try displaying some orange, yellow and red silk roses in with a table centerpiece made from fall fruits and candles. Using these flowers allows you to decorate roses year round.

Press some rose petals in a book and create dried flower prints for your walls. Roses as a decorative motif find favor in many decorating styles. Find a decorative paper with a texture or print that appeals to you and matches your decorating style and glue the dried roses onto it. Frame the rose prints and include them in your wall gallery as part of an art or photo display.

Create a spring or summer wreath for your front door by weaving roses of different colors into a wreath of ivy vines, pine boughs or other flowers of the season. Bind with decorative ribbon and hang on your front door.

Greet party guests with roses. If you have a garden with roses in bloom, use some of them to create decorative elements for your outside gate. Locate baskets with long handles or tie long ribbons on the baskets to make handles. Fill the baskets with roses. Use ribbon to hang items like teacups, decorative wooden folk art signs or seed packets to the baskets. Hook the baskets on the fence posts in front of the house; encourage guests to take home the decorated rose baskets as party favors when the party is over.
