How to Set a King Carousel Gumball Machine

The King Carousel Gumball Machine is a gumball machine that has been produced by the Carousel company since the 1920s.. The design and working mechanisms have remained throughout the history of production, but the materials have been slightly changed as technology has advanced. The machine is comprised of a glass globe with an all metal base, lid and coin mechanism. The machine can be set to accept any coin size or to operate for free. The machine dispenses small pieces of gum, candy or other treats smaller than 0.62 inches in diameter. The gumball machine can be placed on a solid surface or installed on a 15 inch or 37 inch stand. Instructions

      Remove the screw at the top of the gumball machine using a Phillips screwdriver. Turn the screw in a counter-clockwise motion. Set the screw aside when it releases from the machine.

      Lift off the top cover of the machine with you hands and set it aside.

      Lift off the nut, spider globe retaining ring with gasket, globe, gasket and brush off plate. Turn the adjustable dispensing wheel until it is set for the desired dispensing amount.

      Slide the coin mechanism up approximately one inch and insert the chute door by positioning the plastic tabs into the slots on both sides of the chute.

      Slide the coin mechanism up and away from the machine. Lay the mechanism on a flat surface so that the handle is against the surface. Unscrew the screw using the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the flat black retaining spring and dog arm. Save the screw, spring and dog arm and slide the coin mechanism back into the machine. This step should only be done if you wish the machine to operate without the use of coins.

      Replace the brush off plate, gasket, globe, spider globe retaining ring with gasket and nut.

      Open the gumball package and slowly pour the gumballs into the machine globe. Do not fill the globe past the point where the globe meets the rim.

      Slide the cover of the machine back on. Insert the screw into the hole and tighten the screw using a Phillips screwdriver turned in a clockwise direction.

      Place the machine on a flat surface or slide the machine onto the stand by centering the stand inside the base plate.
