How to Decorate With Antique Ice Skates

Use antique ice skates to add to your winter holiday decor or as part of your antique or Victorian themed decor. The way you display the skates and the other items you use around the skates can work together to create a vintage display that takes you back to another time or adds to your winter decor.

  Hang the skates from a hook in the wall or lean them against a wall on a shelf. Position the skates so that they won't fall and cut anyone or fall on anything. Tie a bow around the blades or replace the laces -- if they have laces -- with colorful string.

  Display a vintage sled nearby if you want to create an entire scene that you might have stepped into years ago. Skip the sled if you want the focus to be solely on the skates.

  Hang a matching set of mittens and a scarf next to the skates, perhaps partially hidden behind them. Opt for a vintage or hand-crocheted set for authenticity.

  Position a mirror or vintage pictures of ice skaters, rinks or general ice and snow pictures next to or above the skates. Include some of the same colors found in the skates or other nearby accessories.
