Instructions

  1. Ribbon Picture

    • 1

Take apart a 6-by-6-inch picture frame, removing the backing and glass. Wipe all the pieces clean with a damp rag. Cut a piece of thin cardboard the right size to fit snugly into the frame.

    • 2

Place the picture frame outside on a piece of newspaper. Place the cardboard a few inches away from the frame on the newspaper. Cover the picture frame and cardboard in a light coat of spray paint in a color that matches your bedspread. Let the paint dry and repeat the process to create an even color. Let the paint dry.

    • 3

Gather interesting pieces of assorted scrap ribbon. Place the painted cardboard on a protected working surface. Measure a piece of ribbon long enough to go across the cardboard and tuck each end behind the back. Glue the ribbon vertically across the top of the cardboard, tightly tucking the ends around the back.

    • 4

Repeat Step 3, gluing the second ribbon 1/2 inch below the first so that there is a 1/2 gap between each ribbon. Keep gluing assorted ribbons across the cardboard until you reach the bottom. Let dry.

    • 5

Place the glass back in the picture frame. Slide the decorated cardboard into the frame and slide the backing in place. Lock the frame pieces in place and hang the decoration on your bedroom wall.

    Ribbon Vase

    • 6

Wipe a clear plastic or glass vase clean, inside and out, with a damp rag. Wipe the vase dry with a lint-free rag.

    • 7

Cut a wide piece of assorted craft ribbon long enough to wrap around the middle of the vase and tie in a bow. Cut a medium-width piece of ribbon and a thin piece of ribbon the same length as the wide ribbon.

    • 8

Place the wide ribbon on the table and spray the back of the medium-width ribbon with spray adhesive. Position the medium-width ribbon on the middle of the wide ribbon and smooth to secure. Spray the back of the thin ribbon with adhesive and position it on the middle of the medium-width ribbon. Smooth to secure and let adhesive dry.

Wrap the stacked ribbons around the middle of the vase. Tie the ribbons in a small bow and let the tails hang down. Fill the vase with flowers, candy or loose change.
