What Is Lotus Dinnerware?

Lotus dinnerware is a very detailed line of dinnerware. It normally has a floral pattern around the edges that resembles the petals of a lotus flower. The styles and colors of this dinnerware may vary somewhat.
  1. Pieces

    • A complete set of lotus dinnerware usually consists of 15 different pieces. Among these include plates, saucers, teacups and pitchers. Many of these pieces are stamped on the back with the K.T. & K. mark.

    Designs

    • Though most of the lotus dinnerware pieces have a floral design, there still may be some variances. Plates may be only trimmed in the floral pattern and some may have bolder, more colorful patterns. The colors of this dinnerware may be green, blue, white, yellow, pink or rust.

    Origins

    • It is believed that this dinnerware was first manufactured in the 1920s and 1930s. One of the earliest manufacturers was a company in East Liverpool, Ohio, known as Knowles, Taylor and Knowles. However, other companies, such as Vera Wang, have also produced their own line of lotus dinnerware.
