Different Kinds of Display Hooks

Display hooks are a safe and easy way to hang artwork, sculptures, dishes, musical instruments, and other heavy or bulky items on the wall. These hooks help to secure the items to the wall without scratching, breaking, or otherwise damaging them. Utilizing display hooks also assists the user when they are ready to take the item down temporarily or permanently. These hooks help to make hanging items on your walls quick and easy.
  1. Picture Hanger

    • A picture hanger is an example of a display hook that can be used either visibly above the picture or invisibly, behind the picture. Picture hangers are display hooks that are screwed into the wall that help to hold all sizes of pictures. The hook generally attaches to the frame of the picture in the back or by using wire attached to the frame. Picture hanging display hooks can also be used to help hold the weight of a larger, heavier framed piece of artwork that may need additional support while being displayed.

    Guitar/Instrument Hooks

    • Many people, particularly those in small apartment or rehearsal spaces, may need to use display hooks to hang their instruments on the wall. These display hooks are specially designed to hold the shape and weight of an instrument without damaging it or the wall when used properly. For guitars, display hooks can either hold the guitar at the neck or they can hold both the body and the neck of the guitar, depending on the individual's spacial needs for the hook.

    Sculpture

    • There are some display hooks that are designed to hold sculptures or other large, oddly shaped pieces of art work. These display hooks are often made of heavy duty plastic or metal and must be anchored to the wall using the studs located behind the dry wall to make sure that once the artwork is hung on the display hook that the hook will not separate from the wall. These large display hooks come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Very often an object will require the use of more than one of these display hooks.

    Plates

    • There are special display hooks that are designed for plates and other pottery. Most often these display hooks are made out of metal and attach to the plate using hooks that secure using a spring mechanism to the sides of the plate. The spring mechanism is hidden behind the back of the plate being displayed and also has a hanger or display easel to allow for different types of item display. Some of these display hooks are also made in larger sizes to hold abnormally shaped plates or other pieces of pottery.
