Run the stud finder along your ceiling until you find a joist. This solid wood support runs across your ceiling and is a requirement for anchoring your pole.
Use the included drill bit to drill a hole in the center of the joist. Drill until the bit passes about 2 ½ inches into the wood.
Push the lag bolt included with your pole through the plastic ceiling mount. Use an Allen wrench to screw this bolt into the hole you drilled in the joist, securing the mount in place.
Screw the rubber feet into the available holes on the bottom of the base plate. These feet stop the pole from sliding.
Measure the height of your ceiling with the measuring tape. Turn the extending tube on the Lil' Mynx pole counter-clockwise to extend it to one inch taller than your measured ceiling height when standing on the baseplate.
Place the open end of the tube over the ceiling mount -- the hook is intended as a disguise and will not connect to anything in the pole.
Apply upward pressure to the pole to compress it and bring the base plate around to the ground. The pressure from the added inch of height will be enough to keep the pole in place.
Hold a level next to the pole to ensure it is straight up and down. If the pole is straight and secure, it is ready for use.
