What Are Bath Sheets?

A bath sheet comes in similar colors and materials as the standard towel, but the primary difference is the dimensions. Due to its larger size, the bath sheet offers a larger area for absorbing moisture, which can make it preferable to a standard towel. This gives the bath sheet its own place in the bathroom towel selection as you coordinate with to the existing towels in your home.
  1. Dimensions

    • The dimensions of a bath sheet vary from a standard bath towel. A bath sheet can range from 35-by-60 inches to 40-by-70 inches, while a standard towel can range from 27-by-52 inches to 30-by-58 inches. This leads to a range of an 8- to 10-inch difference on the width of the bath sheet to a range of 8- to 12-inch difference on the height. These inches could make an immense difference to a tall or larger individual.

    Size

    • As bath sheets are larger than normal towels, they are extremely versatile and provide ample room for larger individuals. A plus-size individual can usually wrap them around his body much like a slender person does with a regular-size towel. As the towel provides excellent coverage for most bodies, it can quickly become the favorite towel in the home.

    Alternate Uses

    • Bath sheets can do double duty in your home. Not only are they good for the bathroom but also you can use them at the pool or beach. Rather than a beach towel, use an older bath sheet on the sand while tanning at the beach. The larger size keeps more sand away from your body. A bath sheet can also be placed on a poolside chair to absorb moisture when you leave the pool or excess suntan lotion as you relax.

    Miscellaneous

    • As more material is needed to manufacture a bath sheet, it costs more than the standard bath towel, although if you watch for sales, you can purchase some at a reasonable price. Bath sheets may be too large to fold two on a standard towel rack, but you can install a couple of hooks for them to hang from instead, or add a bath sheet, towel and washcloth to the towel rack as a group.
