How to Find Discontinued Drapery Patterns

Nothing can be more frustrating than discovering the drapery patterns you are trying to locate have been discontinued. There are times when drapery patterns have a limited run, either because of seasonality, manufacturer production issues or simply because the manufacturer only planned to produce a limited number of patterns. But it is possible to locate discontinued drapery patterns by checking with a variety of online and offline sources.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down all of the information you have about the discontinued drapery pattern you are trying to locate, including manufacturer/company, pattern number, style, size and a brief description of the pattern. This information will help you organize your efforts when making phone calls and/or writing letters to inquire about the drapery pattern's availability.

    • 2

Locate the drapery pattern company that created the discontinued pattern you are looking for. You can do an Internet search by entering in the drapery pattern company in the search field or by calling a drapery fabric store to help you identify the best number to call to inquire about discontinued drapery patterns.

    • 3

Call the fabric store or pattern retail store that once sold the pattern and ask them to check their inventory records. It's possible they have the discontinued pattern as a return, or perhaps have taken any leftover stock off the shelves. Discontinued patterns typically cannot be returned back to the manufacturer, so the dealer is usually left with the discontinued stock.

    • 4

Check popular online auction sites, like eBay. Remember to be as detailed as you can when entering the description of the pattern manufacturer, pattern number and style.

    • 5

Contact EZ patterns. It is a company that provides search services for old and discontinued patterns. You will need to send them the pattern company, pattern size, number and a brief description of the pattern, along with a self-addressed stamped postcard.

    • 6

Do an Internet search and put the pattern company and pattern number in the search box. Scroll through the results that closely match the drapery pattern you are looking for.
