Pinecone Flower Bouquet Craft

Craft your own pinecone flower bouquets for special events, holiday decorations or home décor. Make pinecone flowers using small, whole pinecones or by cutting sections from larger pinecones. Decorate the tips of whole pinecone flowers with glitter glue to add sparkle to any bouquet.
  1. Wedding

    • Create a distinctive wedding bouquet for the bride and bridesmaids using pinecones and flowers. This inexpensive alternative to a traditional floral bouquet fits well with an outdoor or rustic-style event. To craft the bouquet, insert a 10-inch length of floral wire through the base of each pinecone. Slide the cone to the center of the wire and bend the wire down to make a stem for the pinecone. Wrap the wire stem with floral tape. Repeat the process to make 15 to 20 small pinecones with wrapped stems. Gather the pinecones in a group with sprigs of baby's breath, forget-me-nots or other small-blossom flowers. Wrap floral tape around the gathered stems to create the wedding bouquet. Cover the floral taped stems with ribbon to coordinate with the wedding theme.

    Centerpiece

    • Make a centerpiece with pinecone flowers interspersed with your favorite flower blossoms. Create the pinecone flowers by adding wire stems, then wrapping them with floral tape. Another way to craft pinecone flowers is to cut the bottom third from a pinecone with a band saw and then paint the cut section of the pinecone with acrylics to make a fake flower blossom. Add a wire stem to the painted section of the cone. Insert the wire stems of either type of pinecone flower into dry or wet floral foam that fits inside your centerpiece container. Insert silk or real flower stems between the pinecone flowers to make the centerpiece bouquet. Cover the top of the foam with craft moss to complete the arrangement.

    Wreath

    • Craft a pinecone wreath for your front door using whole or cut and painted pinecone flowers. Attach short wire stems to the pinecones and then insert them into a foam wreath frame. Cover the wreath frame with the pinecone flowers or intersperse a mixture of silk flowers for color and design interest. Tie a ribbon bow around the bottom of the wreath.

    Potted Plant

    • Create pinecone flower potted plants using a few small whole pinecone flowers or one large cut and painted pinecone flower. Small terra cotta planters work well for this project, decorate the planters with paint if you prefer a colorful pot for the pinecone flower. Fit floral foam inside the planter, and then insert the wired pinecone flower stems into the foam. Cover the top of the foam with craft moss or small decorative beads.
