How to Hang a Wall of Handmade Ceramic Bowls

Part of the attraction of having handmade ceramic bowls on walls instead of traditional framed or stretched canvas paintings, is the way the appearance of the display will change throughout the day depending on how the light falls on it. Shadows will change, moving, lengthening and changing the colors. The other advantage is that a wall display allows you to use handmade ceramic bowls that are not suitable for food use, whether because of the type of glaze, or because they are not watertight.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather together the bowls you want to hang, and arrange them in a practice layout on the floor or other large flat surface, in groupings you find pleasing. Arrange them by color, size, pattern or design, or shape.

    • 2

Attach bowl hangers to all of the bowls in your display. Different bowl hangers attach to bowls in slightly different ways, so follow the manufacturer's instructions on your hangers.

    • 3

Measure the wall and make marks to show where to drill holes or put nails, if your particular display calls for precise placement of the bowls.

    • 4

Hang each bowl in its allotted space, taking each bowl in turn from your practice layout and leaving the others in the practice layout so you don't forget the order.
