Decide how long you want the ribbon to hang on the frame. Double this measurement and add 4 inches to the length.
Place the frame face-down on a flat surface. Place one end of the ribbon on the back corner of the frame. For a wood frame, place three or four staples into each ribbon end with the staple gun. For small plastic or metal frames, adhere the ribbon with a hot glue gun, holding the ribbon in place until the glue dries.
Place the other end of the ribbon on the opposite top back corner and staple or glue in place.
Add a bow, if desired, to the top center of the ribbon to cover the nail. Cut a length of ribbon twice as long as you want the bow to be wide when finished. Bring the ends together overlapping at the center and wrap with a small piece of wire to create the cinched bow. Wrap a small piece of ribbon around to cover the wire, gluing to secure. Glue the bow to the top center of the ribbon hanger.
