Some Easy Ways to Accessorize Using Animal Prints

Animal print fabrics, from leopard, tiger, antelope and cheetah to zebra, snakeskin and

alligator, are effective decor tools for adding excitement and an air of jungle mystery to

an interior. Add a splash of these animal prints for a bedcover, dining room chair seats,

a shower curtain, living room cornice or canisters for your kitchen counter. Animal prints,

used sparingly, will enliven the mood of any room.
  1. The Bedroom

    • Use your favorite animal print for the comforter, bedspread or throw pillows for your bedroom. Animal prints can also be used for sheets and pillowcases if the blankets and

other bedclothes are done in complementary solids. These sensual and exotic prints are also effective when showcased on an upholstered headboard and make a stylish covering for a chaise lounge in the bedroom corner. Tie an animal print scarf around a plain throw pillow or use it as a table cover.

    The Bathroom

    • Have some fun with animal print touches in the bathroom. Leopard-print wallpaper is a show stopper with white, black, red or green porcelain bathroom fixtures. If the walls are painted a solid color, bring in the animal print on the shower curtain or the window curtains. Add a banding of animal print to solid bath towels or spice up the look with animal prints on soap dishes, toothbrush holders and a plastic rinsing cup.

    The Dining Room

    • Add a touch of jungle drama to the dining room by using a striking animal print for the upholstery on dining room chairs. Animal prints can also appear as a pattern covering glassware, salad and serving plates, as well as banding on dinner plates, cups and saucers. Alternately, look for a naturally colored animal print on napkins, table runners and banding on tablecloths. Add a framed picture on the wall of a leopard, tiger or jungle terrain to complete the look.

    The Living Room

    • Upholster a standing screen for the corner of the living room in a pattern of antelope or tiger. Wall-to-wall carpeting is also available in zebra, leopard, antelope and tiger patterns that will add dazzle to the decor or opt instead for an animal print area rug or a banding on an area rug made of heavily textured sisal or sea grass. Add your favorite animal print with lampshades, throw pillows or a cornice over plain draperies held with tiebacks of the same print.
