Instructions

    • 1

Pick out the artwork you want to hang on the wall. Lay it out on the floor to see which arrangement looks best.

    • 2

Balance different sizes of artwork by grouping large pieces opposite small pieces.

    • 3

Group artwork that is similar in subject matter together.

    • 4

Use a pencil to trace a template of each art piece with graph paper. Cut the template out.

    • 5

Hang the paper templates on the wall with painter's tape to get an idea of how the art pieces will look on the wall.

    • 6

Hang templates at eye level. Art should not be hung too high.

    • 7

Tightly group an even number of art pieces together on a large wall.

    • 8

Group an odd number of art pieces together horizontally over a sofa or in a hall entrance.

    • 9

Group small and large pieces together in an oval-shaped pattern over a long table or a large bed.

    • 10

When satisfied with the template arrangement, use push pins to mark where the picture hangers will go.

    • 11

      Remove the paper templates.

    • 12

Hang art pieces, using picture hangers. Measure with a tape measure or ruler to make sure artwork is on the wall straight.

    • 13

When grouping sculptures or accessories, put different shapes together on a table or desk, such as a round vase with a square box.
