How to Arrange Posters on a Wall

Hanging art on your walls -- especially posters -- offers your home a decorative and personalized touch. But the balance must be correct - nearly bare walls leave your home looking bland, while too much artwork can make your house appear too uncoordinated. Learning where and how to place posters around your home can give your house a cohesive look, while keeping it simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Place larger posters in the room's focal point. This can be over your sofa, fireplace or bed.

    • 2

Place small posters near architectural elements or over small furniture to add cohesiveness. Small coffee tables, end tables, lamps or single chairs are ideal locations.

    • 3

Frame a collection of posters that are cohesive in design and hang them in a geometric group. Find an order that looks cohesive and visually appealing. The most common geometric grouping is a rectangle.

    • 4

Keep posters at eye level if they aren't over furniture. You want the posters to blend with the surroundings.

    • 5

Hang posters 6 to 8 inches above furniture. If they're any higher, the posters will disconnect from the scenery; any lower and they'll interfere with the furniture.
