How to Trace Projected Images on a Curved Wall

Trace projected images on your walls with an opaque projector to create decorative wall art. Opaque projectors transfer a large image onto a wall so that you can easily trace the image. This type of projector will project images on flat or curved walls. Experiment with the placement and size of the image before you begin to trace the image. The placement is particularly important on curved walls in order to achieve the desired overall appearance. After you successfully trace an image to your wall, you can paint it to create a wall mural.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the opaque projector on a rolling cart. Turn on the projector, and place the small photocopied design inside of it. Turn off the lights in the room.

    • 2

Roll the cart on the floor to adjust the position of the image. Raise the feet on the projector to adjust the height of the image. Experiment with different positions along the curved wall. Consider how the image will appear from different spots throughout the room. Because the wall is curved, some positions will be more aesthetically appealing than others. Lock the wheels on the cart once you have decided on a position.

Adjust the focus on the opaque projector to achieve the level of detail in the design that is necessary for tracing. Trace along the lines of the design with a pencil. Work around the light from the projector as you trace the lines so that you don't block areas of the design that need to be traced. Turn off the projector, and turn the lights on after you have finished tracing the design.
