Measure the canvas tapestry so it fits on the wooden dowel. If you choose a dowel that is 3 feet long, leave at least 1 1/2 inch of bare dowel on each side, making a piece of canvas that measures roughly 33 inches.
Use decorative fabric tacks to fasten the canvas to the wooden dowel. Space the tacks approximately 1 inch apart across the dowel.
Cut a fabric cord to fit the dowel. Cut the cord about 3 to 5 inches longer than the dowel.
Fasten the fabric cord to the dowel using fabric tacks, attaching one end of the cord to each end of the dowel with the tacks. This creates the hanger. If the cord is thick, use fabric nails; choose nails that are at least 3/4 inch long.
Hang the fabric canvas on the wall.
Measure enough canvas to cover the height of the wall plus 4 inches; the canvas should touch the floor after you hang it on the curtain rod.
Hem the edges of the canvas so the canvas doesn't fray. Make a hem of about 3/4 of an inch wide on all sides.
Sew the short end of the canvas. Fold a 3-inch piece of canvas over and sew the end down on the length of canvas. It should be wide enough that a curtain rod can fit through it. Make the kind of curtains that don't require hooks.
Make as many canvas panels as you need to cover the whole wall. For example, a 10-foot wall may need four or five canvas curtain panels.
Hang the curtain hooks on the wall. Use several sets of curtain rods if your wall is long. Line them up next to one another.
Push the curtains onto the rods and hang the rods on the hooks.
